Event Title: Evergreen High School Presents "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley
Where: Evergreen High School - 14300 NE 18th St, Vancouver, WA
Thursday, November 4, 2010
Time: 7:00 PM
BNW was written by Aldous Huxley in the 1960's. It's the story of a futuristic utopian society where emotions, individuality, families and personal freedoms are abolished. People are bred to fit into a caste system where the bottom percentile are mentally stunted on purpose, and life is controlled, aside from the savage reservations where Native American culture is still practiced. The story revolves around the story of a man who is brought to the "Brave New World" and must deal with the problems that come with controlled masses.
Not recommended for children under 12.

Where: Ft. Vancouver High School Auditorium, 5700 East 18th Street, Vancouver,WA
Friday, November 5, 2010
Time: 7:00 PM
The Little Mermaid seeks adventure in exploring the human world. Her first warning to "get her head out of the clouds and back under water where it belongs" comes by way of shark attack when she is taking treasures from a sunken ship. As the story progresses, the warnings become stronger. Because she succumbs to the temptations of the human world and falls in love with Prince Eric (at first sight, no less), she gives her voice to the sea witch in return for legs. For her freedom, her father must sacrifice his title as king of the merpeople to the sea witch. In true fairy-tale-style, everything works out in the end. The villain is defeated and the spell is broken, and Ariel certainly learns a lesson about choosing adventure. In the end, she becomes human and marries Prince Eric. Leaving her father and sisters is a sacrifice she makes naturally. For "bright young women / Sick o' swimmin' / Ready to stand," we are to assume that standing at the altar will satisfy their need "to explore that shore above."
Performances at Fort Vancouver High School. November 5 - 14, 2010. Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. Adult tickets are $12. Child and Senior tickets are $9. Vancouver, WA, October 26, 2010-Metropolitan Performing Arts Academy (MPAA) is proud to present Gypsy, their second production for 2010. Gypsy will be performed at the Fort Vancouver High School Auditorium at 5700 E. 18th Street in Vancouver, WA. Gypsy is the ultimate story about an aggressive stage mother who will stop at nothing to make her daughter a star. Join Rose, June and Louise in their trip across the United States during the 1920's, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born. This fantastically orchestrated musical features what many consider the best scene work in musical theatre history and unforgettable songs like "Let Me Entertain You", "Some People", "If Momma Was Married", "You Gotta Get A Gimmick" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses". This is a gripping story of one of the most frightening aspects of show business.

Under the direction of Noah Scott and vocal direction of Becky Chelson, this MPAA production is sure to bring new awareness to theatre in SW Washington. This talented cast is led by veteran actors, Kristi Crusan (Rose), Tom Henning (Herbie), Mikenzie Ames (Louise/Gypsy) and Kacy Cross (Dainty June).

Tickets are now on sale and available for purchase online at http://gypsy.eventbrite.com/. Prices are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and kids (not recommended for children under 12). For more information, contact Stephanie Hatton at 360-798-8672 or slhatton@comcast.net.
