The young theater group follows its successful inaugural season by presenting Much Adoe About Nothing with a core of more than a dozen experienced actors, guest actors from across the country and a large swing/understudy cast. Artistic Director Brian Allard, shares, "Now that we've achieved our independent non-profit status, we look forward to joining the established theater community here in Portland!" They will also reprise last year's successful production of A Midsommer Nights Dreame for a single performance:

OpsFest is dedicated to bringing this new style of Shakespearean performance to the Portland area by reviving the old. When Shakespeare originally penned and performed his plays, they included all the cues an actor needs to perform his or her role without rehearsal. This allows the truest reaction to the story as it progresses for both cast and audience.
All performances are free but donations are happily accepted.

Clark orchestra features director and violinist from Romania


VANCOUVER, Wash. -- The Clark College Orchestra will present its spring concert as part of the 20th anniversary of Dr. Donald Appert as Music Director/Conductor in a season entitled Precious Gems for a Score on Sunday, June 13, in the Royal Durst Theatre of the Vancouver School of Arts & Academics, 3101 Main St., Vancouver. Featured on the program will be upcoming young violinist Remus Rimbu from Romania. He will perform the Zigeunerweisen ("Gypsy Airs"), op. 20 of Sarasate. Guest conductor for the concert will be Romeo Rimbu, Music Director of the Oradea Philharmonic (Romania). Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from his opera Prince Igor will open the concert. Symphony No. 5 in e minor by Tchaikovsky will be the rousing finale. The performance is at 7:30 p.m. and admission is free and open to the public. Donations to the Orchestra General Fund will be accepted at the door.

Remus Rimbu (born in 1994), is a student at Liceul de Muzic "Sigismund Toduin Cluj-Napoca, Romania, where he studies the violin with Corina Marc. At the early age of six, as a pianist, he earned an Honorable Mention at the National Contest of Interpretation "MarNegrea"- in PloieRomania. As a violinist, he has placed in a number of contests: Second prize at the NaContest of Interpretation - violin, Oradea, 2003; Second prize at the Festival- contest "J. S. Bach" - School of Music "A. Bena" - Cluj -Napoca, 2006; First Prize at the NaContest of Interpretation - Oradea - 2007; Diploma of excellence at Festival- contest "J. S. Bach" -School of Music "A. Bena" Cluj -Napoca, 2007; Honorable Men at the Interpretation Contest of Baia Mare, 2007; Honorble Men at Contest of Instrumental Interpretation -Cluj-Napoca, 2008; Diploma of excellence at Festival- contest "J. S. Bach" - School of Music "A. Bena" Cluj -Napoca, 2009; and Second Prize at National Olympiade of Interpretation- Alba Iulia, 2009. As soloist, Remus Rimbu has performed the works of Kreisler and Sarasate with the State Philharmonics of Oradea and Ploiesti in Romania. He was also the soloist with the orchestra of the Sigismund Toduta High School of Music in Cluj-Napoca.
Romeo Rimbu is currently the permanent Conductor of the Philharmonic State Orchestras in Oradea (since 1990), Ploiesti (since 1999) and Iasi (since 2003). He is also Main Conductor of the New Transylvania Orchestra (since 1999), and a faculty member at the Music-Universitatea of Oradea (since 1998).
Maestro Rimbu regularly guest conducts most of the orchestras in his native Romania., such as Orchestra de camera a Radiodifuziunii -Bucuresti, the State Symphony Orchestras of Arad, Bacau, Botosani, Brasov, Cluj, Constanta, Craiova, Satu-Mare, Sibiu and Targu-Mures. Moreover, he has toured internationally with his Orchestras and performed with them in Seoul's Art Center, Vienna's Musikverein, Munich's Herculesaal, Rome's Teatro Manzoni, Bilbao's Teatro Arriaga, to name just a few famous concert halls.
Romeo Rimbu has conducted over 500 concerts at an international level, including appearances in most European countries, the USA, Brazil, Japan, and South Korea. Some of the orchestras he has conducted in foreign countries include the Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra (China), L'Orchestre du Conservatoire de Rennes (France), the New York University's Contemporary Music Ensemble (U.S.A.), Symphonic Orchestra of Athens (Greece) and National Philharmonic of Moldova.
Mr. Rimbu is also a recording artist with the Olympia label. He has recorded four CDs of the music of composers historically associated with the town of Oradea: M. Haydn, K. D. von Dittersdorf, W. Pichl.
