VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Clark College Concert Choir under the direction of April Duvic and Concert Band under the direction of Richard Inouye will present their Winter Concert Fiesta Música, Friday, March 12, 2010, 7:30 p.m. in the Royal Durst Theatre, Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, 3101 Main Street, Vancouver. The program features music of Spain, Cuba and Latin and South America. Highlights of the program include the Concert Choir singing works based on famous Spanish language poetry by composers Michael D. Mendoza, Alberto Favero, Z. Randall Stroope, Sid Robinovitch, as well as three short pieces from the Kraó tribe in Brazil. Students in Clark College's Spanish 122 class, taught by Elizabeth Ubiego, will be available to discuss the poets and poetry sung by the Concert Choir. The Concert Band will feature selections from Spain and Mexico, including Symphonic Dance No. 3, Fiesta, by Clifton Williams, Zacatecas by Genaro Codina, arranged by Richard E. Thurston, Tres Danzas de Mexico arranged for concert band by William E. Rhoads, and the ever popular Andalusia.
