Choir and band present "from sea to shining sea - songs of America"
VANCOUVER, Wash. - The 2008 Clark College Concert Choir under the direction of April Duvic and Concert Band under the direction of Richard Inouye, will present their Winter Concert "From Sea to Shining Sea - Songs of America," Friday, June 13, 2008, 7:30 p.m. in the Royal Durst Theatre, Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, 3101 Main Street, Vancouver. Highlights of this musical tribute to America will feature the Concert Choir singing
Yankee Doodle, the spiritual
Witness, an Appalachian Folk Song,
Cluck Ol' Hen accompanied by fiddler Rachel Lindeken and two pieces featuring the men and women separately. Clark College is especially proud to present the campus premier of "Fireflight," an original composition written for Concert Band by Clark Concert Band student, Christopher Alex. The program will end with both groups combining to perform American composer Aaron Copland's, "The Promise of Living," and the beautiful traditional hymn, "America the Beautiful."
