DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The Clark College Concert Choir under the direction of April Duvic and Concert Band, under the direction of Richard Inouye, will present their Spring Concert “Between Heaven and Earth,” Friday, June 11, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. in the Royal Durst Theatre, Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, 3101 Main Street, Vancouver. The program will feature the Concert Choir singing Holy Radiant Light by Gretchaninoff, Die Himmel rühmen by Beethoven, and Choose Something Like a Star by Randall Thompson as well as the American Spiritual Ezekiel Saw de Wheel. The women of Concert Choir will be featured on Mendelssohn’s Lift Thine Eyes from “Elijah” and the men of Concert Choir will perform Sing Me to Heaven by Daniel Gawthrop. Two newly-composed works will be premiered: The Astronomer by Concert Choir member Casey Burgess and Easter Wings by Clark College Orchestra director and Music Department Chair, Dr. Donald L. Appert. The Concert Band’s atmospheric segment will open with Lord Guard and Guide, commissioned in 1993 by the USAF Military Airlift Command Band and composed by award winning composer, Robert Jager. The Concert Band will conclude their stellar portion of the program with Gustav Holst’s famous orchestral transcriptions of Mars and Jupiter from his suite, The Planets.
